Ballincollig

A Village at Heart

Set on the western edge of Cork and nestled on the south bank of the river in the beautiful Lee Valley, and a western suburb of Cork City, Ballincollig has evolved from a historic village into one of Ireland’s most diverse and welcoming urban communities.

Affectionally known to locals as ‘The Village’, Ballincollig offers a wide and varied range of shops, services, industries, clubs and social activities for locals and visitors alike.

Steeped in heritage, surrounded by nature, and a community that welcomes everyone, Ballincollig truly is a special place that we are proud to call our home.

Ballincollig Regional Park

The Regional Park Ballincollig is a much-loved green space on the south bank of the River Lee, offering free parking, sports pitches, a skate park, children's playground, a magical Fairy Trail, a dog park, picnic areas, woodland trails, paved walkways, and scenic river walks.

A hugely important civic amenity for local people, families and visitors, it provides space to walk, play, exercise, relax, and enjoy nature close to home.

The park is also steeped in history and holds National Monument status, centred around the old Gunpowder Mills where gunpowder was produced from the 18th to early 20th century.

Set along the River Lee floodplain, the park is rich in wildlife and natural habitats, supporting birds, bats, mammals, insects, and seasonal plant life, making it both an important recreational space and a valuable natural environment for the wider community.
