With just days to go before the Communities in Bloom International Challenge judging, Ballincollig Tidy Towns volunteers are working tirelessly across the town. From litter picking, planting and watering displays to installing biodiversity signage, maintaining pollinator habitats and enhancing public spaces, preparations are in full swing. Community groups, local businesses and residents continue to play their part, showcasing the pride, teamwork and community spirit that make Ballincollig such a special place.

With just 12 days until the Communities in Bloom International Challenge, Ballincollig Tidy Towns volunteers continued preparations with litter picking, planting, grass cutting, weeding and public space improvements across the town. Supported by residents and local businesses, the team also advanced pollinator projects, floral displays and biodiversity initiatives, showcasing Ballincollig’s strong community spirit.

Ballincollig Tidy Towns had another busy week of litter picking, planting and town maintenance, with 25 volunteers covering the Regional Park and surrounding areas. Work continued at HQ on sorting and recycling materials, while large-scale planting and footpath improvements took place across key locations including Poulavone, Eastgate and Coolroe Meadows. With strong community support, preparations for Ballincollig’s Bloom 2026 journey continue to progress well.

With the Communities in Bloom adjudicators due to arrive on 25 June, Ballincollig Tidy Towns volunteers continued intensive preparations across the town. From litter picking and sign cleaning to meadow management, planting projects, and enhancements at Poulavone Roundabout and Westcliffe, volunteers worked tirelessly to showcase Ballincollig at its best. New floral displays, pollinator-friendly planting, and strong community support are helping bring colour and vibrancy to the town ahead of the international judging.

Ballincollig Tidy Towns volunteers had another productive week despite heavy rain, with litter picking, edging, weeding and biodiversity work carried out across the town. Major efforts focused on Poulavone Roundabout, Old Fort Road and Westcliffe, while the restored bee boxes were returned to Poulavone as part of the town’s Pollinator Corridor. The group also welcomed visiting Brownies to learn about composting, water harvesting and pollinator projects ahead of Biodiversity Week 2026. We also met with Abbeyleix TT who kindly gave us CiB flags and signage.

Ballincollig Tidy Towns had another productive week, with 30 volunteers taking part in the Sunday litter pick and preparations continuing for the Communities in Bloom 2026 judging. Volunteers carried out clean-ups across the town, unveiled a new pollinator-themed mural on Bakers Street, supported the Darkness Into Light event, welcomed visiting students from France, and continued enhancement works on public spaces, biodiversity projects and floral displays.

With less than 50 days until the Communities in Bloom judges arrive, Ballincollig Tidy Towns is intensifying preparations across the town. Volunteers have been enhancing key locations, developing new flower beds, supporting school planting projects, and promoting biodiversity and community initiatives. As Ballincollig in Bloom gathers momentum, residents and businesses are encouraged to help showcase the town at its best ahead of the international judging in June.

Ballincollig Tidy Towns enjoyed another busy week of community action, with 28 volunteers taking part in the Sunday litter pick, collecting 12 bags of litter and a bag of glass. Evening work nights returned with a major clean-up at Poulavone. We celebrated the first anniversary of the Cork Biodiversity Hub with the unveiling of a stunning community mural. Despite mixed weather, volunteers continued their efforts to enhance Ballincollig’s public spaces, biodiversity and community spirit as preparations continue for Ballincollig in Bloom 2026.

Ballincollig Tidy Towns concluded its overview of the Communities in Bloom evaluation criteria by highlighting the importance of plant and floral displays in showcasing community pride and creativity. Volunteers enjoyed another busy week of litter picking, landscaping, biodiversity projects, and town enhancements, while a highly successful fundraising table quiz helped support preparations for Ballincollig’s participation in the 2026 international competition.

Ballincollig Tidy Towns volunteers had another active week of community work, including litter picking across the Regional Park, visitor exchanges with other Tidy Towns groups, and extensive planting bed and hedge maintenance across Coolroe Meadows, Westcliffe, and Classis. The team also progressed composting and planting preparations, continuing to enhance local green spaces ahead of the summer season.

Ballincollig Tidy Towns volunteers and Transition Year students continued their community work with weekly litter picking, planting bed maintenance, hedge trimming, and town enhancement projects despite wet weather. Alongside practical improvements across areas including Westcliffe, Carrigrohane, and Classis, the group highlighted the importance of community connection through its weekly volunteer “Cuppa and Chat” and encouraged new volunteers to get involved.

Transition Year students made visible progress on a major planting bed at Westcliffe, while volunteers completed improvement works near Applegreen and the Welcome to Ballincollig sign to enhance the town’s appearance.
